What is Reiki?

The word “Reiki” means (Rei) Universal/Higher Power/God given (ki) life force energy.  It is a Japanese hands-on technique that is passed from Master to student and is used in the promotion of healing, reduction of stress, balancing of the energy centers (also known as the “Chakras”) and relaxation.  When the energy centers are out of balance, disease can result.  Not only can physical illness result but mental/emotional disturbances may also become evident.  Reiki delivers healing energy gifted by the Universe/Higher Power to the body and mind that results in a more balanced and harmonious environment in which a person thrives.  It is very complimentary when used together with other healing modalities such as Chiropractic, Orthopedic, Acupuncture, etc., and is recognized by the National Institutes of Health, National Center for complementary and Alternative Medicine. 

Reiki is love, pure and simple.

“Usui” Reiki is the traditional method developed by Dr. Mikao Usui, and “Karuna ® Reiki” is a method developed by William Rand, which he began teaching in 1995. 

Usui Reiki

As stated above, Reiki (Usui Reiki) is a hands-on method of healing, balancing and stress reduction.  A Reiki session is performed on the client fully clothed, lying down or reclining in a comfortable position with the practitioner’s hands placed on the body or just above it.  Physical and/or emotional issues are discussed thereby allowing the practitioner to direct the energy in specific directions when needed.  Although Reiki treats the entire body, when there are immediate concerns it can be directed to those areas with more intensity. 

Reiki is wonderful in aiding the healing process after injuries or surgery, illness and also helps one during the process of “passing over.”

The person receiving Reiki may feel sensations in the body during a session or may feel nothing at all besides a sense of peace and calm.  Most people report a feeling of deep peace and a glowing radiance.  All report that it just “feels great!”

Reiki (both Usui and Karuna) can also be sent long distance and delivered at specific times***  I know of Reiki Masters and practitioners who do more Reiki sessions long distance than hands-on with great success!  I do both hands-on and long distance with equal success.  Reiki can also be given to animals!

Karuna® Reiki

Usui Reiki is a most miraculous healing tool and I use it each and every day.  It will always be my first love.  Karuna® Reiki (also hands-on) is an additional potent tool in my toolbox that I use in combination with Usui Reiki, which affects healing even more on the mental/emotional levels.  Karuna® Reiki can be used to heal painful past issues, unconscious patterns, assists in attaining goals, healing relationships and addictions, creates determination and completion, connects one with their higher self, and so much more.

Learning and Teaching Reiki

Anyone can learn to practice Reiki healing energy.  It is available to everyone.  The only thing needed is a strong desire to heal and be of service.  Reiki energy is passed on to the student by a Master who gives “attunements” during classes which then allows students to tap into the unlimited supply of “life force energy.”  There are three levels of Reiki:

Level One:  Beginners Level.  This is the level in which the student receives  Reiki for life and can do hands-on Reiki on themselves and others.

Level Two:  Advanced Level.  At this level, the student is given attunements for Reiki symbols and the ability to practice Distance healings.

Level Three:  Reiki Master.  The Master Level is for those students who have made a deep commitment to continue their Reiki journey to its fullest potential.  The Master symbol attunement is given along with the ability to teach and give other students Reiki attunements.
